Franz Kafka’s Metamorphosis is being adapted into a “fresh modern horror” film of the same name.
Shooting for the movie is beginning next month, but these things are already true: the traveling salesman Gregor Samsa will be a high-school teenager in the movie version, he transforms into a cockroach (not a beetle), and it all happens within the setting of an American suburb. The film will be a whole different kind of metamorphosis in itself. Sorry Kafka?

I hate it when they, the moviemakers, take classic stories and ruin them by changing key aspects of the original. Sounds like it is aimed at the high school crowd and the vampire crowd.
Didn’t they already do this with “Transformers?” I thought Gregor Samsa’s rocket-guided fingers were a nice touch.
