“The occurrence of yet another freak earthquake in an unusual location is leading many anti-fracking activists…to wonder whether ‘fracking’ in nearby West Virginia may be responsible.”
This article discusses the link that geologists observe between fracking—specifically the step where waste salt water is re-injected “deep into rock beds”—and earthquakes. Referencing “outbreaks” of minor earthquakes in Arkansas, as well as cases in Texas, western New York, Oklahoma, and Blackpool, England, the piece argues that federal action is necessary.

Back in the early 1960’s the US military forced liquid down a deep well at the Rocky Mountain Arsonel in Denver Colorado and caused several earthquakes in the Denver area. Not exzactly fracking but similar in principal.
