MONDAY 9/12: The New School presents, In Aporia: The Annual Akilah Oliver Memorial Reading, honoring the memory of Lang professor and poet Akilah Oliver. Featuring Julian Talamantez Brolaski, Rachel Levitsky, Lauren Nicole Nixon, Erik Freer, Karl Leone, and Kaley Foley. The New School’s Lang Café. 7 p.m. Free.
TUESDAY 9/13: Spend the night with The Believer magazine at the opening of a new season of the KGB non-fiction reading series. Featuring Rebecca Taylor, Rozalia Jovanovic, and Justin Taylor. KGB Bar. 7 p.m. Free.
WEDNESDAY 9/14: Have a book you want to pitch? Go to Pitchapalooza, where 20 writers will get the chance to pitch their books for one minute, with the winner receiving an introduction to an agent or publisher appropriate for the book. Bowery Poetry Club. 8 p.m. Free for audience members. Those pitching must purchase a copy of The Essential Guide to Getting Your Book Published.
THURSDAY 9/15: Tonight is the last evening of the Poetry from the Rooftops series for this year, featuring Deborah Landau, Srikanth Reddy, and Atsuro Riley. The Arsenal Building at Central Park. 6:30 p.m. Free.
FRIDAY 9/16: The Center for Fiction is celebrating the new issue of its online magazine, The Literarian, featuring readings from contributors Tracy O’Neill, Will Boast, and Sandra Novack. 7 p.m. Free.
SATURDAY 9/17: Tananarive Due, author of The Living Blood, My Soul to Keep, and the forthcoming My Soul to Take will take part in a literary salon and book reading at MoCADA in Brooklyn. $10 or $25 with book purchase.
SUNDAY 9/18: The day we’ve all been waiting for in Brooklyn, the Brooklyn Book Festival and it’s FREE! There are way too many great events to name here, so check out the schedule and make sure you pick up your free tickets an hour in advance at a Festival Info Booth. Borough Hall. 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
