Some of the interesting lit-related things I saw this week, which may or may not have appeared this week:
A very good interview with Dennis Cooper at HTMLGIANT.
Best European Fiction 2012, edited by Aleksander Hemon; preface by Nicole Krauss, reviewed at Bookslut.
Not sure it’s the only 2012 preview list you could ever need, as they claim over at The Millions, but it’s pretty damn comprehensive.
Hankering for a way to get to Europe surrounded by other lit types this summer? In its second annual year, Dzanc’s DISQUIET, run by Jeff Parker, now taking applications.
The funniest thing I saw on the internet this week, loosely involving reading.
FC2 launches new interview series, debuting with Michael Martone.
Jonathan Evison and Lidia Yuknavitch both garner Pacific Northwest Book Awards.
Disclaimer: I know little about music so don’t expect regular links here, but Anna March’s Rumpus Mixtape #4 is “Reading Didion” and so deserves a revisit. The fourth track, “Heights of Diamond,” is especially lovely.
If you’re not yet sick of all things Adrien Brody (or if Stephen’s interview swayed you to interest, as it did me), this was a good analysis.
And this also, with a vibrant comments board populated with smart people far removed from “It-lit” culture, in a good way.
