This Week in San Francisco: it’s pride week!

Monday 6/18: The LitSlam is a “live performance-curated poetry publication where the audience serves as the Editors,” and the loudest cheers determine whose work graces the journal. Tonight’s monthly reading features Albuquerque-based Chicana feminist poet Jessica Helen Lopez. All readers welcome. $5, Viracocha.

Tuesday 6/19: Green Apple Books is at the Human Rights Campaign Action Center for a discussion of the newly released Harvey Milk Interviews: In His Own Words. On hand to moderate the discussion on Milk’s life and legacy is Vince Emery, editor of this collection of never-before published transcripts, including debates with John Briggs over the notorious 1978 Prop 6. Free, 6pm.

Wednesday 6/20: Granta and Zyzzyva magazines host a ‘British’ Pub Quiz at the Make Out Room. Bring a team and join forces with recent contributors to the journals for a night of Brit themed brain exercise. Free, 6pm.

Thursday 6/21: The Diversity Film Series hosts a free screening of Stonewall Uprising, a documentary chronicling the seminal Stonewall riots that sparked the Gay Rights Movement in 1969. Free, Doors at 6:30, film at 7. Dan Bucatinsky reads from his Does This Baby Make Me Look Straight?, essays of the author’s very human journey to parenthood personal experiences of being a gay dad. Free, 7:30 Books Inc. Castro.

Friday 6/22: The SF TransMarch begins at 3pm with a party in Dolores and gets moving towards Civic Center at 6:30. SF-based indie-orchestral group the Family Crest inaugurates the 75th Stern Grove Festival with a show at Union Square, 5pm, Free.

Saturday 6/23: Good Vibrations hosts the annual Pink Pleasure party at its Valencia branch, featuring DJs Becky Knox and Dalle’, plus treats and prizes. Free, 8pm. The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence start a bit earlier, hosting the annual Pink Saturday street fair and official Dyke March after party in the Castro, 5-11 pm.

Sunday 6/22: Pride Parade begins downtown at 10:30am.  Bird and Beckett‘s Sunday poetry series features Loren bell and Sharon Doubiago reading at 2pm, followed by the Which Way West? Sunday concert series with Jinx Jones.
