What began as a digital platform to aid underfunded artists in finding a wider audience and financial backing is now weeding out amateurs.

The business of managing and consulting kickstarter initiatives is on its way up. In fact, managing a successful kickstarter campaign almost requires external aid, and it’s this fact that is changing the game of online fundraising and its blossoming subeconomies.

“I don’t think we’ve seen how big it can get yet. I think someone will have a million dollar film by the end of the year,” says McNelly, a professional kickstarter consultant.
