Monday 02/25: McSweeney’s is celebrating the release their 42nd issue titled “Multiples.” The issue, edited by novelist Adam Thirlwell, takes an experimental approach to translation. New or rare pieces are taken through six translations in the issue. They’re translated into English, then to another language, and back, until it’s gone through six translations to get to what appears in this issue. The reading will feature contributors Alvaro Enrigque, Sheila Heti, Heidi Julavits, Julie Orringer, Andrew Sean Greet, Colm Toibin, Valeria Luiselli, and John Wray. McNally Jackson, 7pm, Free.
Tuesday 02/26: George Saunders reads a bit at the New York Public Library, then gets interviewed by the talk show legend Dick Cavett. The New York Public Library, 7pm, $25 general and $15 friends of the library.
Wednesday 02/27: A part of Geek Week, Birdwaves, Time Traveling, and Dreamharvesting is a reading and discussion about contemporary sci-fi and geek culture with authors Andri Magnason, Sean Ferrell, and Stephen H. Over in Brooklyn A Public Space will be celebrating the launch of their new issue with readings from Tom Drury, Jessica Francis Kane, and Mark Bibbins. The reading will be followed by a discussion moderated by Brigid Hughes. Bookcourt, 7pm, Free.
