From Superworms to Pythons

Mary Roach, author of Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers and other explorations of the weird, has a new book called Gulp, this one about eating and digesting food.

You can read a delightful but somewhat gruesome excerpt at Boing Boing. If you’re not squeamish about fistulated cows or mealworms chewing their way out of reptiles’ stomachs, you’ll love it.

Even the endnotes are great: “Secor would volunteer himself. ‘I think we’d all like to have a giant snake constrict us in a controlled situation and see what happens—could we still inhale?'”
