National Poetry Month is still in full swing, and the L.A. Times Festival of Books is just around the corner!
Saturday 4/13: Poet and short story writer Martha Ronk reads from and signs her latest book of poetry, Partially Kept. 5:00 pm at Skylight Books.
Sunday 4/14: Roar Shack moves to 826LA and presents “Home At Last,” featuring Ben Loory, Diane Sherlock, Kate Maruyama, Sofia Gil, Jason Gutierrez, and musical guest The Noble Gasses. This event also features their Live Write competition. 4:00 p.m. at 826LA in Echo Park.
Monday 4/15: Allison Moon presents her new novel, Hungry Ghost, the sequel to Lunatic Fringe. Allison was named a Lambda Literary Emerging LGBT Authors Fellow and was a runner up for the Victoria Hudson Emerging Author Award. 7:30 p.m. at Stories Books and Cafe.
Tuesday 4/16: Start out the new tax year with some charitable giving by donating your time at 826LA. Or you can make a tax-deductible monetary donation to one of the Mini-Golf for Cheaters teams!
Wednesday 4/17: Eat Write and Muddy Leek Presents Rumpus contributors J. Ryan Stradal and Zoë Ruiz, as well as Rico Gagliano. There will also be a story and music from David Zasloff. Food! Words! Free event, plus happy hour menu! 8:00 p.m. at Muddy Leek Restaurant.
Thursday 4/18: The Nervous Breakdown Literary Experience with readings by Rumpus Contributors Emily Rapp and Jillian Lauren, along with Lenore Zion and Rob Roberge. Spoken word by Rich Ferguson. Music by The Urinals. $8, 7:00 p.m. at Molly Malone’s.
Literary Death Match is back on! Readers Jamie Rose, Derek Kirk Kim, Owen Egerton, and Ophira Eisenberg compete for the prize medallion. Doors at 8:05, event begins at 9:15 at Busby’s East. Tickets are $7 preorder, $10 at the door. 21+ event.
Friday 4/19: William Luvass reads from Ashes Rain Down: A Story Cycle, and David Rocklin reads from The Luminist. Discussion follows the readings. 8:00 p.m. at Beyond Baroque.
