Monday 11/11: Jim Ruland’s Vermin on the Mount presents an evening in partnership with VLAK and Razorcake, featuring readings by Louis Armand, Melissa Broder, Juliet Escoria, Ariana Kelly, Damien Ober, and Scott O’Connor. 7 p.m. at Book Show.

Tuesday 11/12: Ayana Mathis reads from The Twelve Tribes of Hattie. 7:30 p.m. at the Hammer Museum.
Literary Death Match returns to L.A. Featuring readings by Deni Béchard, Rachel Shukert, Carson Mell, and Cherry Chevapravatdumrong. The judges will be Rumpus contributor Joshuah Bearman, and Jessie Kahnweiler, plus one more who will be a surprise. Hosted by the incomparable Adrian Todd Zuniga. Doors open at 7:15 p.m. at Busby’s East. $7 preorder or $10 at the door. 21+ event.
Wednesday 11/13: The Moth Storyslam presents: Trap. Doors open at 7 p.m. at Busby’s East. $8 tickets at the door. 21+ event.

Thursday 11/14:  Rumpus Contributor J. Ryan Stradal‘s Hot Dish is back! Featuring readings by Rumpus Contributor Jim Gavin, Tracy McMillan, Meg Howry, Mary Otis, and Julia Ingalls. 8 p.m. at The Last Bookstore.

Friday 11/15: Shades & Shadows 2 is back with readings by Ben Loory, Lisa Morton, Steven Calcote, Justin Robinson, Lara Parker, and Mark Kruger. Hosted by Xach Fromson (me!) and Lauren Candia. With musical guest Cirque Noir. Doors open at 8 p.m. at the California Institute of Abnormal Arts. $10 at the door.

Saturday 11/16: Curbside Splendor, a Chicago-based independent publisher, presents readings by James Greer, Franki Elliot, and Chris Terry. 6:30 p.m. at The Pop Hop.

Sunday 11/17: Red Hen Press presents readings by Kim Dower, Lee Herrick, Ron Koertge, and Amy Uyematsu. Charles Hood will moderate. 2 p.m. at the Ruskin Art Club.

Xach Fromson is a native Angeleno and the co-host/co-founder of Shades & Shadows, a sci-fi/fantasy/horror/etc. reading series here in LA. He studied creative writing at California State University Northridge, where he worked on The Northridge Review. He received an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of California Riverside Palm Desert Low Residency program, and is finishing his first novel. He appeared at Dirty Laundry Lit's "Love Sucks" event in February 2013, and has stories published in "Halloween Tales" and "Winter Horror Days" from Omnium Gatherum press. And once, he slew a dragon.
