World History Plot Holes?

A meteor killing off the dinosaurs was obviously a cop out because the author didn’t know where to take the story.

This was just one of several responses on Reddit’s thread “Assume all of world history is a movie. What are the biggest plot holes?” that are good for a few chuckles.

Grist for the mill so far includes the unlikely speed of twentieth century technological developments including the transition from air to space travel, an argument that the meteoric kill-off of the dinosaurs was the only solution for an unbeatable protagonist, and the insanity of twentieth-century conflict.
