A Pan-American Online Journal for Literary Hooligans


Hinchas de Poesía is an online literary magazine featuring poetry, prose, reviews, and art from across both Americas. (“Hinchas” are soccer hooligans, so the journal’s title evokes violently passionate poetry fans.)

Mostly in English, Hinchas draws on talent from across two continents. Check out this excerpt of Jamie Figueroa’s “Hem of Skin,” a prose piece from the latest issue:

The Spanish were not like the English, who wadded up their women, put them under one arm and went about their colonizing just the same. No, the Spanish men, after months at sea, arrived in rat infested ships, as horny as the day they entered the gates of puberty, only worse, because they were grown men possessed by the frenzy of conquest and knew the sharpest of their swords was between their legs…
