In Episode 11 of Make/Work, host Scott Pinkmountain talks with composer/percussionist Aaron Siegel. Siegel is one of the co-founders of the New York-based organization Experiments in Opera, and his own opera, “Brother Brother,” has its full-length premiere coming up in New York City on May 2nd and 3rd at the Playhouse at Abrons Arts Center.
Siegel speaks about balancing his day job as an administrator at Carnegie Hall with his life as a father and composer, and about how his understanding of creative work as social practice has been informed by his years in group therapy.
I’m a better person and a more inventive and creative person when I’m able to share my ideas and thoughts and feelings with other people and to accept whatever feedback they have.
