Thursday 1/15: Matt Love reads from his memoir Rose City Heist: A True Crime Portland Tale of Sex, Gravy, Jewelry and Almost Rock and Roll. Powell’s City of Books, 7:30 p.m., free. 

Friday 1/16: Graeme Simsion reads from the long-awaited sequel to his popular The Rosie Project, The Rosie Effect. Powell’s City of Books, 7 p.m., free.

Saturday 1/17: Award-winning writer and author S. Renee Mitchell hosts a free youth poetry workshop open to all high-school students. The workshop will be followed by an open mic. Literary Arts, 1 p.m., free.

The Independent Publishing Resource Center hosts a night of trans writers featuring Ivan Coyote, Sara Woods, and Cooper Lee Bombardier. IPRC, 7 p.m., $7 – $20 sliding scale.

Sunday 1/18: The Pure Surface performance and reading series welcomes Luke Gutgsell, Jamalieh Haley, and Micah Schmelzer for tonight’s show. Valentine’s, 7 p.m., free.

The Portland Poetry Slam hosts its weekly reading. Glyph, 5 p.m., $5 suggested donation.

Tuesday 1/20: Salon Skid Row presents performance artist Korrea, poet Brandon Speck, dream collage artist Misha Masha, all accompanied by music by Camera Obscura, followed by an open mic. The Corner Bar, 7 p.m., free.

The Unchaste Readers series welcomes Julia Laxer, Olivia Olivia, Elizabeth Enslin, Melanie Alldritt, Venus Thrash, J.M. Reed, Karen Walasek, and Polly Dugan for tonight’s reading. The Knock Back Bar, 7:30 p.m., free.

David Shields and Caleb Powell read from their latest book, I Think You’re Totally Wrong. Powell’s City of Books, 7:30 p.m., free.

Wednesday 1/21: The Tell It Slant reading series welcomes Gigi Rosenberg, Robin Romm, Irene Behrman, and Jenny Forrester for a reading honoring Anne Frank’s legacy. Oregon Jewish Museum and Center for Holocaust Education, 7 p.m., $10 suggested donation.

NPR education blogger Anya Kamenetz reads from her latest book, The Test. Powell’s City of Books, 7:30 p.m., free.

If Not For Kidnap reading series welcomes Mike Young, Andy Fitch, and Amaranth Borsuk for this month’s reading. Ristretto Roasters, 7:30 p.m., free.
