Christian Kiefer and the Soundtracked Novel

By

When we interviewed Christian Kiefer about his recent book, The Animals, the soundtrack he produced to accompany the text was still an upcoming release. Now available, the album features music by Kiefer and others such as Jefferson Pitcher, Tetuzi Akiyama, Tom Carter, Kevin Corcoran, to name a few. Taking its name from the novel’s first sentence, What You Have Come for Is Death is a sonic mapping of the novel’s landscape, its songs inhabiting both the protagonist’s looming past in Northern Nevada and his present in Northern Idaho.

Read more about Kiefer’s process, novel, and the relationship between his craft as a musician and as a writer in our interview, and find What You Have Come For Is Death via Jealous Butcher Records and iTunes.
