Wednesday 6/10: On a slow night in San Francisco, consider the Peninsula. Rumor has it there’s some university down there on an old ranch, and sometimes folks in those parts get around to poetry. Tonight, the Not Yet Dead Poets Society (LOVE that name) presents the rather remarkable Casey Fitzsimmons who has distinguished herself as poet, artist, jurist, and mathematician. Thursday 6/11: The always multi-tasking Baruch Porras-Hernandez, curator of Queer Open Mic, story-teller, visual artist, and indefatigable organizer, recommends this: Modus Mécanique: an experimental ballet with printing presses and percussion, featuring music, dance, performance art and a live printing demonstration. Local print maker James Tucker will present his musical debut on the letterpress with musician Daniel Yasmin, performing a score developed by composer and sound artist Goyo Aranaga. Also featuring performances by: Anastazia Louise Aranaga, Alexa Eisner, Jacquelyn Marie Shannon, and Darius Sohei. $25 (includes limited edition letterpress print of the musical score), 8 p.m., The Aesthetic Union.
