Last week the New York Times reported that Billie Holiday’s hologram is coming to the Apollo Theater this fall, where the singer made her debut at nineteen, and recently was inducted into the Apollo Hall of Fame. Apparently it’s planned to be the first in a series significant enough to be announced as a “partnership” between the Apollo and Hologram USA, and Holiday’s likeness will interact with the audience, spouting historical facts and answering questions before she “sings.”
Friday, news broke that Whitney Houston will be joining Holiday in the ranks of the musicians holographically resurrected: Hologram USA will also be producing a transparent Houston, in cooperation with the late singer’s sister, Pat Houston, in a “world tour” planned to start next year.
