The National Parks are releasing a new video here on The Rumpus next week, and in the meantime they’d like you to collaborate with them on “Coração”: they are asking fans to submit answers to the question, When was a time you had to let go of something good, in order to keep it good?
The collaboration finds its genesis in the thematic concerns of the song itself, as well as an examination of the nature of songwriting from Jake, the band’s manager:
…the person on the other end is a crucial element of the artistic experience and whatever they bring to their experience with the art is, for them, part of it. If a song is well crafted (loaded term, I know) then anyone can grab a hold of it and graft their own life into it and this, in my opinion, is why music can be so powerful and so unifying.
Submit any responses to the collaborative call by sharing them on social media and tagging the band on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, or by sending them via email.
