A Sandy In Rizzo’s Clothing

At The Toast, Mara Wilson discusses her relationship with Grease, Sandy, and Rizzo as a kid who wanted to believe the movie was an accurate portrayal of being a teenager:

Months before I saw Grease, I had cut my hair short in an attempt to change the way people looked at me. They saw me as “that little girl from that movie,” forever young and girly. (Never once did I consider getting rid of my bangs.) I wanted people to think I didn’t care, and to be a little afraid of me. If everyone saw me as tough, I figured, maybe they wouldn’t think I was weak.
