Now that Prince’s death has officially been linked to opiate use—an accidental overdose of Fentanyl, the be specific—some artists are heeding the icon’s death as a warning to get their own opiate use in check. Chaka Khan, who counted Prince as a friend, has checked herself into rehab to treat her own Fentanyl use. Taka Boom, her sister, has also entered rehab treatment for opiate addiction. Khan issued the following statement:
The tragic death of Prince has had us both rethinking and reevaluating our lives and priorities. We knew it was time to take action to save our lives. My sister and I would like to thank everyone for their support, love and prayers.
