Suicide’s Alan Vega Passes On

By

Alan Vega of Suicide passed away this weekend, leaving us bereft of yet another irreplaceable figure in music. Henry Rollins announced the news on his website, sharing a statement from the Vega family mourning Vega’s loss:

Alan’s life is a lesson of what it is to truly live for art. The work, the incredible amount of time required, the courage to keep seeing it and the strength to bring it forth—this was Alan Vega.

Read a celebration of Vega’s career and contributions at the Guardian, and watch the video for Suicide’s “Cheree” after the jump.
