It may be a while before you run across another lineup like that! Free, 7 p.m., Dog Eared Books on Valencia.
Friday 9/2: Nomadic Press presents Cassandra Dallett and Natasha Dennerstein. Free, but donations will be solicited. 7 p.m., Nomadic Press in Oakland. (Note: Street parking is available, but organizers recommend parking at Walgreens, a block away as “the easiest thing to do.”)
The California Jazz Conservancy’s Dillon Vado Trio collaborates with poet Amos White to present Beyond Words—An Evening of Jazz and Poetry. Featuring Bonnie Kwong, Candy Shue, DeWayne Dickerson, Amos White, and The Dillon Vado Trio. $15, 8 p.m., California Jazz Conservancy.

This week’s theatre recommendation is Veils, a two-hander by Tom Coash, being staged at Pear Theatre in Mountain View. Coash was a teaching at American University in Cairo in the 1990s when he began developing his ideas for the play, whose two characters are a Black American Muslim woman who has traveled to Egypt to become a better Muslim and learn Arabic and a “liberated” Egyptian who questions her decision to wear the veil. You can read more about the play and the playwright here. For ticket information, click here.
