Monday 1/30: Start your week with a little whiskey. Magers & Quinn hosts writer Fred Minnick, author of Bourbon: The Rise, Fall & Rebirth of an American Whiskey. He’ll read from and answer questions about the book. 7 p.m., free.

Tuesday 1/31: At Once Upon A Crime, mystery writer Ellen Hart will present, discuss, and sign copies of her new novel, Fever In The Dark. 7 p.m., free.

Wednesday 2/1: The Fireside Reading series at Hamline Midway Library continues with Stephanie Wilbur Ash. She’ll read from her debut novel, The Annie Year, published last year by Unnamed Press. 7 p.m., free.

Thursday 2/2: The U’s Charles Baxter hosts his ninth annual benefit for hunger relief with a reading by bestselling author Lauren Groff. She’ll read from her novel Fates & Furies at the McNamara Alumni Center. 7 p.m., $5 suggested donation (all proceeds will be donated to Second Harvest).

Friday 2/3: The Loft Mentor Series presents a reading featuring loft mentors Erin Sharkey and Elizabeth Tannen, with host and featured reader Julie Schumacher. Loft Literary Center, 7 p.m., $5–10 suggested donation.

Over in Edina, you’ll find Mindy Mejia, author of the novel Everything You Want Me to Be, in conversation with Sheila O’Connor. Barnes and Noble Edina, 7 p.m., free.

Saturday 2/4: Diane Dettman reads and signs copies of her new historical fiction novel, Yasu’s Quest. St. Paul Barnes and Noble, 2–3 p.m., free.
