Tuesday 2/28: The quickest reading in the city, the 555 Series, takes place at FiveWatt Coffee. Five writers (Angela Ajayi, D Allen D Allen, Lisa Marie Brimmer, Rosie Peters, and Patrick Werle) will perform for exactly five minutes each. Hosted by Elizabeth Tannen. 8 p.m, free.
Wednesday 3/1: George Saunders debuts his new book, Lincoln in the Bardo, at The Parkway Theatre in Minneapolis. This is Saunders’ first novel, a historical reimagining of Abraham Lincoln’s childhood. This ticketed event is sponsored by Rain Taxi. A $35 ticket includes a signed copy of Lincoln in the Bardo and entry in a special raffle. 7 p.m.
“A Good Time for the Truth: Connecting, Converging, Emerging” is a night of mixed-media arts and performance, featuring contributors to the essay anthology A Good Time For the Truth, published last year by Minnesota Historical Society Press. Expect performances and readings by: Andrea Jenkins, Venessa Fuentes, Darrius Strong and Josh Kiyee, Carolyn Holbrook and others. The event is co-sponsored by Hamline University and takes place in their Anderson Center. 7 p.m., free.
Saturday 3/4: Celebrate the release of Paula Cisewski’s two new poetry collections at the Hook and Ladder Theatre Company. The event will include readings, music, and refreshments. 6 p.m., free.
