Monday 7/17: Ashley Shelby presents her novel South Pole Station, in conversation with Don Shelby. Magers & Quinn Booksellers, 7 p.m., free.

Wednesday 7/19: Between the Covers Happy Hour! Nickolas Butler and Peter Geye will be reading from their work. This event requires a $10 reservation fee, and a cash bar will be available. Dock Cafe, 4:30 p.m., $10.

Chris Colfer will be reading from his new book, The Land of Stories: Worlds Collide and signing copies. There will also be a Q&A, Land of Stories trivia, a costume contest, and prizes. Tickets may be obtained by purchasing The Land of Stories: Worlds Collide ($19.99 + tax) from Red Balloon Bookshop. Each book purchase gets fans one raffle ticket. Fans in costume will receive an additional raffle ticket. Raffle tickets enter fans in a drawing for an exclusive VIP meet-and-greet with Chris immediately following the event. Friday 7/21: Red Balloon will be welcoming authors David Oppegaard, Sara Biren, Andrew DeYoung, and Sonia Halbach for a YA round table discussion, Q&A, book signing, and refreshments. Red Balloon Bookshop, 6:30 p.m., free.

Join Mike Finley and artist Ray Langenbach their spoken word piece “The Boston Cataclysm: A Duet Memoir.” Black Forest Inn, 8 p.m., free.

Saturday 7/22: MCBA Biennial Gala to celebrate the 2017 Book Art Biennial. This year’s theme, Shout Out: Community Intervention, Independent Publishing, and Alternative Distribution, explores the dynamic relationship between book art and community engagement. Open Book, 7 p.m., $35.
