Friday 9/29: Visit The Book Cellar for a reading with Brian Allen Carr presenting his debut novel, Sip. 7 p.m., free.

Sunday 10/1: As always, the Uptown Poetry Slam is going down at The Green Mill. Open mic starts at 7 p.m. followed by the slam itself. $7, 21+.

Tuesday 10/3: Poetry off the Shelf at The Poetry Foundation continues with a reading by Layli Long Soldier. 7 p.m., free.

Wednesday 10/4: Visit Women & Children First to hear Nicole Krauss and Aleksandar Hemon discuss Nicole’s new book, Forest Dark. 7:30 p.m., free.

Thursday 10/5: City Lit Books hosts readings from And These Are the Good Times, by Patricia Ann McNair and Code of the West, by Sahar Mustafah. 6:30 p.m., free.

Head back to Women & Children First to hear Melissa Fraterrigo in conversation with Christine Sneed. 7:30 p.m., free.
