7-inches for Planned Parenthood is a new series of 7-inch records and digital downloads to benefit Planned Parenthood. Featuring writers, artists, musicians, comedians, and visual artists, the lineup includes songs from Sleater-Kinney, Mitski, and Bon Iver; live tracks from comedians such as Tig Notaro, Zach Galifianakis, and Sarah Silverman; and art by Angela Pilgrim, William Villalongo, and more.
Among my favorite musical selections is “For Marsha P. Johnson” by The National’s Bryce Dessner. It’s a selection from his score for The Death and Life of Marsha P. Johnson, a recent documentary about the pioneering LGBTQ civil rights activist.
The 7-inches physical boxset will be available on November 17, and the entire compilation is available digitally now. You can stream it here and find out more information about the project here.
