Tuesday 7/23: The Dead Bards of Philadelphia will host an evening of poetry featuring readings by Michael John Bobak and Raven Aurora Callahan, followed by an open mic. 8 p.m. at Venice Island Performing Arts Recreation Center.
Wednesday 7/24: The return of “Franks O’Hara,” a literary event that features local poets reading selections of Frank O’Hara’s work as well as their own, will feature readings by Kyle Dacuyan, Kay Gabriel, Liz Bowen, Juliana Ward, Ivanna Baranova, and Jon Ruseski. There will also be beer, hot dogs, and tofu pups aplenty! Hosted by Alina Pleskova and Zach Blackwood. 5 p.m. at Institute of Contemporary Art.
Celebrate poet Jawdat Fakhreddine’s newest publication The Sky That Denied Me, with readings by his translators, Huda Fakhreddine and Roger Allen. Selections from the book will be followed by readings from Huda’s own work. Hosted by Alina Macneal and Jennifer Hooks. 7 p.m. at Fergie’s Pub.
Celebrate the release of Jane Marshall Fleming’s debut chapbook Ocotillo Worship with an evening of poetry at A Novel Idea. The event will also feature readings by Rebecca Kokitus, Kaitlyn Buhrman, and Tianna Hansen. 7 p.m. at A Novel Idea on Passyunk.
Saturday 7/27: Penn Book Center will host the release event for Emily Wallis Hughes’s new poetry collection Sugar Factory.The event will also feature readings by Cort Day, Gina Myers, Oki Sogumi, KC Trommer, and Jason Zuzga. 2:30 p.m. at Penn Book Center.
