Wednesday 10/30: Ian Duncan will be discussing Human Forms: The Novel in the Age of Evolution. University Press Books in Berkeley at 5 p.m.

Hannu Rajaniemi, Meg Elison, and Annalee Newitz will read from Future Tense Fiction: Stories of Tomorrow. The evening will be hosted by the collection’s co-editor, Torie Bosch. Green Apple Books on the Park in San Francisco at 7:30 p.m.

Susan Steinberg will be reading from Machine. She will be joined in conversation by Lucy Corin (One Hundred Apocalypses and Other Apocalypses). Pegasus Books Downtown in Berkeley at 7:30 p.m.

Thursday 10/31: John Lithgow will be discussing Dumpty: The Age of Trump in Verse. He will be joined in conversation with Michael Krasny, host of Forum on KQED. Osher Marin JCC in San Rafael at 7:30 p.m. ($45, tickets required).

Friday 11/1: Gail Scott will be reading from Heroine, which has just been released in a new edition. She will be joined in conversation by Carla Harryman (Sue in Berlin). Alley Cat Books in San Francisco at 7 p.m.

Tuesday 11/5: Shannon Pufahl will be reading from her new novel, On Swift Horses. Green Apple Books on the Park in San Francisco at 7:30 p.m.

Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni will be reading from The Forest of Enchantments. She will be joined in conversation by Vandana Kumar. Kepler’s Books in Menlo Park at 7:30 p.m. ($10–$40, tickets required).
