Wednesday 12/11: Matthew Schuerman discusses Newcomers: Gentrification and Its Discontents. Natalie Moore will be joining the conversation. 57th Street Books, 6 p.m., free.

Poetry off the Shelf continues at The Poetry Foundation with a reading by Willie Perdomo. Perdomo will be joined by Davon Clark, Sara Salgado, Kyla Pereles, and The Third. 7 p.m., free.
