Deborah Williams is a professor at NYU and author, most recently of The Necessity of Young Adult Fiction (Oxford). From 2014–2018, she wrote a biweekly opinion column for The National, the English-language newspaper of Abu Dhabi; her essays have appeared The Rumpus, the New York Times, Jane Friedman’s blog, and the Markaz Review, among other publications.
