Laura Stanfill started unpacking secrets and acknowledging old scars after a 2014 traumatic brain injury set her voice free. As the publisher of Forest Avenue Press, she amplifies authors, celebrates literary community, and increases industry transparency. Her work has earned her a scholarship to attend the Yale Publishing Course, a Publishers Weekly Star Watch honoree designation, and a Literary Arts publishing fellowship. She believes in the power of storytelling and wishes on indie bookstores like stars.

The Rumpus publishes original fiction, poetry, literary humor writing, comics, essays, book reviews, and interviews with authors and artists of all kinds. Our mostly volunteer-run magazine strives to be a platform for risk-taking voices and writing that might not find a home elsewhere. We lift up new voices alongside those of more established writers our readers may already know and love. We want to bring new perspectives into the conversation that will make us all look deeper.
