Lisa Sanchez received her Ph.D. from the University of California, Irvine, where she was a Ford Fellow. She taught in New York, Chicago, and at UC San Diego. She has just completed her first novel, The Theater, about a female aid worker and an intelligence officer in Afghanistan. Her nonfiction is published widely, including in The Millions, Law and Social Inquiry, and in anthologies, such as Between Law and Culture, and Race, Gender, and Punishment: from Colonialism to the War on Terror.
