Mark Eisner’s Neruda: The Biography of a Poet (Ecco) was a Finalist for the 2019 PEN/ Bograd Weld Prize for Biography. It is the latest in a series of projects on the poet that began with City Lights’ 2004 The Essential Neruda: Selected Poems, which Eisner edited, conceived, and worked on as a consulting translator. Now, after co-editing Resistencia: Poems of Protest and Revolution, Eisner is working on a book that explores the interweaving forces of Tina Modotti’s art and life when she lived in Mexico during the 1920s.
