Sunday 12/11: As always, the Uptown Poetry Slam is going down at The Green Mill. Open mic starts at 7 p.m. followed by the slam itself. $7, 21+.

Tuesday 12/13: Kimberly Drew, author of the popular blog Black Contemporary Art, joins artist and scholar Rashayla Marie Brown for a conversation about photography and bearing witness in the age of social media. Museum of Contemporary Art, 6 p.m., free with admission.

Head to Women & Children First for the final Sappho’s Salon Open Mic of the year! e nina jay and Clara and the Great Goddamn will be the featured performers, and sign-up begins at 7 p.m. Pay what you can, BYOB.

Wednesday 12/14: Join the Poetry Center of Chicago at City Lit Books for the Six Points Reading Series featuring Aricka Foreman and Tyehimba Jess! 6:30 p.m., free.

Lindsay Tigue, author of the poetry collection System of Ghosts, will read at The Book Cellar. Tigue will be joined in conversation by Jac Jemc. 7 p.m., free.

Visit Women & Children First for a Q&A and book signing with Tikva Wolf, author of the wildly popular webcomic Kimchi Cuddles. 7:30 p.m., free.

Thursday 12/15: The Poetry Foundation’s Pop-up Poetry series at the Art Institute of Chicago continues with a reading from our own Essays Editor, Ruben Quesada! 6:30 p.m., free for Art Institute members or with museum admission.
