This week in San Francisco, experience music the old fashioned way at Shellac Shack and the San Francisco Chamber Orchestra’s free home show. Also plans for New Year’s Eve and New Year’s day:
Monday 12/28: Remember vinyl? Stop by Shellac Shack @ The Homestead for a dose of old soul 78’s, not to mention rockabilly, doo wop, jazz, and a whole lot more for the discerning audiophile. Free, 21+, 2301 Folsom St. (@19th St.).
Tuesday 12/29: All you can eat pizza for $9.95 at The Lookout. Need I say more? Even the most homophobic of bros will want to venture out to the Castro for a deal like this. 6.30-9.30pm, 3600 16th St. (@ Market).
Wednesday 12/30: Dance your way out of 2009 at ODC’s Rhythm and Motion 30th Anniversary. Starting at 10am, get in all of that exercise you promised yourself before the year officially ends. Free dance classes, readings, and a reception are scheduled throughout the day. 351 Shotwell St.
Thursday 12/31: Spend New Year’s Eve with D-Structure as they ply you with booze, art, and toys at their New Year’s Eve Bash. $10 gets you access to the Lower Haight’s finest open bar, life art, and DJs, or show up between 6 and 9pm to peruse the gallery free of charge. 520 Haight St. (@Fillmore).
Friday 01/01: While many of us will likely sleep the day away, those seeking thrills should check out Brunch Drunk Love @ Manor West. With food, drinks, DJs, and circus performances by the Vau de Vire Society, Brunch Drunk Love is a celebration of your ability to get out bed while the rest of us sleep it off. 6am-3pm, $10-15, 21+, 750 Harrisson St.
Saturday 01/02: Start off the new year with new music: Peter Squires @ El Rio. Straight from Brooklyn, Peter Squires’ debut, “Woe Is Me” is just the right blend of low-fi and indie to quell yesterday’s hangover, exercise your romantic demons, and tap your toes to. 7pm, 21+, 3158 Mission St. (@ Ceaser Chavez).
Sunday 01/03: Start 2010 off on a cultured foot at the San Francisco Chamber Orchestra’s free home concert @ The Herbst Theater. 3pm, 401 Van Ness Ave.
