A couple of weeks ago we posted a picture of what must be the worst Dante’s Inferno cover of all time (click the link to view the pic). To quote myself:
“Not only does the cover image look like it has more to do with a Ridley Scott movie than one of the greatest literary works of all time, but the blurb at the top reads: ‘The literary classic that inspired the epic video game by Electronic Arts.'”
Well that “epic video game” is out now, and NPR has covered the story with a humorous piece that includes interviews with game developers, a look at how the game differs from the 14th-century poem, and a talk with Jonathan Combs-Schilling, “a 30-year-old graduate student in the Italian studies department at the University of California, Berkeley, who loves Dante and loves video games.”

Update: Wired has posted a very tongue-in-cheek list titled “10 Literary Classics That Should Be Videogames.”
