“Who Are the Most Underrated Writers in America?”

Craig Morgan Teicher over at Publishers Weekly doesn’t want to talk about The Huffington Post’s ridiculous “Top 15 Overrated Writers” article either. But he does want to start a productive conversation, asking “Who Are the Most Underrated Writers in America?

Craig names our own Stephen Elliott as underrated writer numero uno: “[The Adderall Diaries]  should have made him wildly famous, and yet he’s only mildly famous.” Craig goes on to ask his readers to submit their own underrated writers, promising to post a completed list once it’s ready.

Why not head over and let PW know which writers you feel don’t get enough love?

  1. Short story writer Lucia Berlin.

She was also my mentor–does that disqualify her? Amazing writer. And then she died. Another DQ?
