Jonathan Franzen finally arrives in New York to read from his immensely renown novel, Freedom. If you have yet to pick up Freedom, or didn’t sign up for The Rumpus’s One-Off Book Club, do so and catch him read when he comes back in October (this way you can be a good Rumpus reader and go check out Stephen tonight). Thursday 9/9: “I would eat my babies if I had some’ said Dakota Fanning.” Tao Lin reads from his much anticipated second novel Richard Yates. He’s also luring you in with free wine. The reviews for Yates have been mixed, Huffington Post praises his emotional character depictions while Bookforum damns him. Bookcourt, Brooklyn. 7PM. Free.
Friday 9/10: The second Fashion’s Night Out (Anna Wintour’s brainchild) goes down tonight. Volkswagen vehicles will be on hand to transport you from spot to spot. Make sure to check out the Olson Twins in Tribeca and Rachel Zoe in SoHo, I die. Not in the mood to be bombarded by fashionistas? Take avdvantage of the late night perks instead.
Saturday 9/11: Part of LitCrawl 2010 ‘Sweet Home New York’ is hosted by literary magazines Gigantic and Open City team up for a night of readings by four amazing New York based writers, sharing their personal NYC themed stories in five minutes. 131 Chrystie Street. 8-9PM. Free.

ART: Nara at the Asia Society
Yoshimoto Nara debuts his highly anticipated exhibit ‘Nobody’s Fool’ at the Asia Society this weekend. His Japanese cult following has launched him into a worldwide success. Features art inspired by punk bands such as the Ramones, Nirvana, and Green Day. Asia Society. Through January 2, 2011.
