Thursday 2/17: Support the amazing efforts of 826 Valencia through good old fashioned swindling at A Spelling Bee for Cheaters. Friday 2/18: Pancakes and Booze are not only two great tastes that taste great together, but the name of an LA-based art show visiting The Artist’s Alley Gallery. Catch live body painting, new art by over 50 local artists, and an all-you-can-eat pancake bar backed by the sounds of DJ Todd P. $5, 8pm @ 863 Mission Street.
Saturday 2/19: In case you missed him co-hosting Literary Death Match last week with Alia Volz, Will Franken will be at the Purple Onion for his one-night-only one-man-show: Will Franken’s ‘Grand Opening of a New Baby’. It’s a great baby. Like a human pinata, it will be opened to the public this evening…The candy (or guts) inside the pinata (or baby) will spill out into your ears and minds and come back out as laughter. For the guts (or candy)of the baby (or pinata) are comedy bits…new and exciting comedy bits. Tickets $20, 9pm @ 140 Columbus Avenue.
Sunday 2/20: When was the last time you made a mixtape, huh? Hone your curatorial slow jam skills at the 5th meeting of the SF Mixtape Society at the Makeout Room. Submit your mix ahead of time for a chance at the Judges’ Choice Award, mix your face off for a chance to win the Audience Choice or Best Cover awards, and lay your chosen tracks down on an actual tape cassette (they still make those?!?) for a free drink ticket. Everyone who shows up with a mix of their own will go home with a mystery mix, Secret Santa style. May the hippest audiophile win. Free, 21+, 4-6pm @ 3225 22nd Street.
