PLANES
★★★★★ (4 out of 5)
Hello, and welcome to my week-by-week review of everything in the world. Today I am reviewing Planes.
PIXAR HAS DONE IT AGAIN! If you liked Cars or Cars 2, you’re going to LOVE Planes. It’s like Cars, except instead of cars, they are planes. Now imagine that one racecar whose name I forget being able to fly like a superhero. That’s what Planes is like. There is so much action in the sky instead of on the ground. Any character could fall to his or her death at any moment.
Originally, the lead airplane was voiced by Superman IV: The Quest for Peace’s Jon Cryer but then recast with Suddenly Susan’s Dane Cook. I feel bad for the first guy, not being good enough to be the voice of an airplane but Dane Cook takes things to a whole new level that really makes the film something special.
A lot of the people in the theatre seemed to leave early. I’m guessing they were people who had already seen the film once and wanted just a little more, even if that meant not being able to stay for the whole thing. Personally, I made the effort to see it three times a day for the last week. Its just that good.
When I showed up at the box office dressed as a plane, they let me in for free! Other businesses seem to turn me away when I showed up dressed as a plane. Instead of dressing as one of the planes from the movie, I made up one of my own characters named Rusty. My hope is that Pixar will put me in Planes 2!
On the one hand, I think everyone should see this movie. It’s got something for everyone: planes; different planes; a lot of different scenes to look at; dialogue. But at the same time, you might like the film so much that it becomes an addiction. There are certainly worse addictions. Heroin is worse than Planes. Losing your life saving at a casino is worse than Planes. I’m not sure if being a serial killer is an addiction, strictly speaking, but that seems like it would be worse than Planes. Maybe not though. I’ve never actually taken a human life, but I’ll bet that being murdered is a worse experience than Planes.
Please join me next week when I’ll be reviewing gum.

G’day Ted,
You have got me so excited to see what is clearly a great movie. The downside is that it is not released in Australia until 19 September 2013. I have to ask – 1. you said you saw the movie for free, does this mean that you were paid for your review? 2. Why not delay your review until the movie is released worldwide? 3. Could you use the money Pixar clearly paid you to buy me a ticket to the US to see Planes?
Anxiously awaiting your reply. G
Dear Gtrane,
Unfortunately Pixar did not pay me any money. I wish they had, though, because I want to buy a new mattress and those things are very expensive.

Ted is right on this one G – Pixar did not pay him any money. Planes is a Disney movie NOT a Pixar movie, so any promotional funds would have come from Disney’s pocket. And though Disney owns Pixar, the Pixar production team was not part of the Planes creation.
Maybe that has something to do with why Ted loved this movie soooo much?

G’day Ted & TRW,
Thanks for clearing that up, I feel much better about the review now.
I have a spare mattress, it may be a little expensive to ship though? Wish I owned a plane, I could fly over and drop it off, paratrooper style, out the rear door with a parachute.
Good luck finding some furniture.
G
Dear Rusty,
I’m pretty sure Pixar made this movie because it looks just like they did.

Ted
