We are all told to never read the comments section on well…anything. It is usually a vitriolic place to be. S. Bear Bergman writes at the National Post on what the problem with read comments are:
“Disagreement isn’t why the Reader Comments are a bad neighborhood, it’s the attacks. The homophobic attacks, the transphobic attacks, the anti-Semitic attacks. The rape threats and the death threats, the vigorous expression of the idea that I’m disgusting and so is everyone who shares my gender identity or sexual orientation. That we should be rounded up, put in camps, have our children taken away, be nuked from orbit; that we are terrible crimes against nature merely for having the temerity to exist.”
