BILL COSBY
★★★★★
Hello, and welcome to my week-by-week review of everything in the world. Today I am reviewing Bill Cosby.
Bill Cosby is one of the world’s funniest comedians. With movies like Ghost Dad, he captured the heart of America, and with his TV show The Cosby Mysteries, he paved the way for other TV shows like Mike Tyson Mysteries, starring convicted rapist Mike Tyson.
If the name Bill Cosby still isn’t familiar, perhaps his face is. He’s been the face of countless cultural touchpoints, from the cartoon gang leader Fat Albert, to the Electric Company, to Jell-O Pudding Pops, to his recent association with Spanish Fly – a date rape drug. Is it possible Bill Cosby raped all those dozens of women who have accused him? I hope not, because that means all those women were raped. Is it more possible this is yet another guerilla marketing campaign that blends reality with advertising?
In this day and age the line is so blurry. Did James Franco really try to pick up and underage girl, or was he just trying to promote his new film about the same topic? The way Hollywood is these days it’s only a matter of time before George Lucas digitally remasters Star Wars to include Darth Vader drinking a can of Coke.
We hadn’t seen much of Bill Cosby before this whole scandal, and not seeing much of someone is exactly when they seem to launch a reality show. With the current glut of hoarders, sex tapes, and talent competitions clogging up the airwaves, how could someone with the clean-cut image of Cliff Huxtable, a man who inspected women’s vaginas in his basement, compete?
When his new reality show airs, and it follows him around as he makes his comeback, I’m sure it will do well in he ratings. But it will only make me miss his older shows like I Spy with Robert Culp. I miss Robert Culp. He was so nice.
Please join me next week when I’ll be reviewing a pair of sunglasses.
