Lately, I haven’t been putting myself into my work that much, because I’ve just found the stories of the people I’m talking to much more interesting than my reactions to them. But I also think that, for what I do, I can’t reasonably pretend to be a transparent and omniscient narrator who brings no personal perspective. That person doesn’t exist.
