Friday 4/14: Head to Groundswell Coffee Roasters in Lincoln Square for the Chimera Reading Series. Readers include Eileen Donohue, Gretchen Lida, Harlee Logan Kelly, and Sadaf Ferdowsi. 7 p.m., donations to the Broadway Youth Center are encouraged.

Sunday 4/16: As always, the Uptown Poetry Slam is going down at The Green Mill. Open mic starts at 7 p.m. followed by the slam itself. $7, 21+.

Monday 4/17: Essay Fiesta! Visit The Book Cellar for readings by Megan Henricks, David Berner, Barrie Cole, Jeff Phillips, and Erin Diamond. 7 p.m., donations to 826CHI are encouraged.

Tuesday 4/18: The Open Door Reading Series continues at The Poetry Foundation with readings by David Trinidad and his student Benjamin Williams with Christina Pugh and her student Brianna Noll. 7 p.m., free.

Head to Women & Children First for the book launch party for Sara Paretsky’s Fallout. Sara will be in conversation with Women & Children First co-founder, Ann Christophersen. 7 p.m., free.

Wednesday 4/19: Visit the Seminary Co-op for a poetry reading with Henry Israeli, Michael Robins, and Abigail Zimmer. 6 p.m., free.

Thursday 4/20: The Book Cellar celebrates National Poetry Month with readings by Robert McDonald, Dave Awl, and Richard Fox. 7 p.m., free.
