Head to City Lit Books for an event full of Chicago History, with readings from David Sadowski, author of Chicago Trolleys, Chris McAuliffe, author of Cycling in Chicago, and John Boda and Ray Johnson, authors of The Great Chicago Fire. 5 p.m., free.

Monday 11/27: The Poetry Foundation presents Bearden’s Odyssey: Poets Respond to the Art of Romare Bearden featuring Kwame Dawes, Matthew Shenoda, and Natasha Trethewey. 7 p.m., free.

Wednesday 11/29: Visit Women & Children First to hear Carmen Maria Machado and Gina Frangello discuss Carmen’s new collection, Her Body and Other Parties. 7:30 p.m., free.
