Wednesday 1/3: Moonstone Poetry presents readings by Angelo Colavita and Penelope Gristelfink, followed by an open mic. 7 p.m. at Fergie’s Pub.

The Amalgam Monthly Book Club will meet to discuss the first volume of Saga by Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples. 6 p.m. at Amalgam Comics and Coffeehouse.

Friday 1/5: Annie Paradis’s The Slam returns with guest poet Annaliese Downey. 8:30 p.m. at Good Good Comedy Theatre.

The Philly Pigeon will host a poetry slam for women and non-binary performers, with Jeanann Verlee to feature! 8:30 p.m. at PhilaMOCA.

Saturday 1/6: The Rosenbach is hosting a read-aloud of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night. The event is free with advance registration, and no acting experience is required! Bring your own voice. 1 p.m. at The Rosenbach. 

Sunday 1/7: Local poet Susan Windle will host a writing circle at 4 p.m. at Big Blue Marble Bookstore.

Monday 1/8: The Monday Poets series presents the announcement of the next Philadelphia Poet Laureate, followed by a reading by the Philadelphia Youth Poet Laureate Husnaa Hashim! 6:30 p.m. at Parkway Central Library.

Painted Bride Quarterly presents readings by Trapeta Mayson, Faye Chevalier, Lynn Levin, and Tim Fitts! Hosted by Paul Siegell. 7:30 p.m. at Black Sheep Pub and Restaurant.
