Matthew O. Jackson, economics professor at Stanford University, will be reading from The Human Network: How Your Social Position Determines Your Power, Beliefs, and Behaviors. Book Passage in Corte Madera at 7 p.m.
Friday 3/15: The UCB Retirement Center and Ashby Village will be hosting Ashton Applewhite, author of This Chair Rocks: A Manifesto Against Ageism. Clark Kerr Campus (Krutch Theater) in Berkeley at 1 p.m. (free, registration required).
Saturday 3/16: Helen Oyeyemi will be reading from her newest book, Gingerbread. She will be joined in conversation by Esmé Weijun Wang (The Collected Schizophrenias). East Bay Booksellers in Oakland at 7 p.m.
Sunday 3/17: Celebrated poet, cofounder of City Lights Booksellers, and Bay Area literary treasure Lawrence Ferlinghetti will be turning one hundred this year! In honor of his birthday, the San Francisco Public library will be hosting a reading. Poets Jack Hirschman, Aggie Falk-Hirschman, Janice Mirikatani, devorah major, Ginny Lim, Kim Shuck, Alejandro Murgia, Linda Noel, Dean Rader, and Tongo Eisen-Martin will be reading some of their favorite Ferlinghetti poems. San Francisco Public Library (Koret Auditorium) in San Francisco at 1 p.m.
Tuesday 3/19: Booker Prize-winning author Paul Beatty (The Sellout) will be reading as part of the Center for Literary Arts of San José’s headlining event. Beatty’s reading will be followed by a conversation with SJSU professor William Armaline. Hammer Theatre Center in San José at 7 p.m.
