Hasanthika Sirisena’s work has recently appeared in Electric Literature, Lithub, and The Georgia Review and has been named notable by Best American Short Stories and Best American Essays. Their short story collection, The Other One (The University Massachusetts Press), won the Juniper Prize and was released in 2016. Their essay collection Dark Tourist (Mad Creek Books, 2022) won the Gournay Prize and was a finalist for a 2022 Lambda Literary Award.

The Rumpus publishes original fiction, poetry, literary humor writing, comics, essays, book reviews, and interviews with authors and artists of all kinds. Our mostly volunteer-run magazine strives to be a platform for risk-taking voices and writing that might not find a home elsewhere. We lift up new voices alongside those of more established writers our readers may already know and love. We want to bring new perspectives into the conversation that will make us all look deeper.
