Maggie Capwell once made an R2D2 costume out of a pop-up laundry hamper and many hours with a sharpie. She played ultimate frisbee in the costume, but she doesn't claim to have played particularly well. When she's not dressed as a Star Wars character, she works at a multi-service center for homeless youth in downtown Seattle. She enjoys discussing politics, feminism, anti-racism, and general geekery. She originally hails from Spokane, Washington, and you can find her blogging with variable frequency here.

The Rumpus publishes original fiction, poetry, literary humor writing, comics, essays, book reviews, and interviews with authors and artists of all kinds. Our mostly volunteer-run magazine strives to be a platform for risk-taking voices and writing that might not find a home elsewhere. We lift up new voices alongside those of more established writers our readers may already know and love. We want to bring new perspectives into the conversation that will make us all look deeper.
